In 1997, after the release of their ninth studio album, Ultra, the first one without Alan Wilder, Depeche Mode did not go on a promotional tour, but only held two short concerts of about half an hour to promote their new album. These concerts, called "Ultra Party", took place on April 10 at the Adrenalin Village in London, and on May 16 at the Shrine Exposition Hall in Los Angeles.

Also the setlist was almost the same in the two concerts. Only the first song which was Junior Painkiller in London was replaced by Uselink in Los Angeles.
